Band Directors

 

Terrace Ellis - Director

Mr. Terrace Ellis is Director of Bands of the Sprayberry High School Band. Prior to his current role, he served as the Associate Band Director at Sprayberry, and has held several teaching positions throughout Georgia. He was Assistant Band Director in the Milton High School Cluster—working with Hopewell Middle School, Crabapple Crossing Elementary, and Milton High School—from 2005 to 2007. Before that, Mr. Ellis was the Assistant Band Director at Pebblebrook High School from 2003 to 2005.

Mr. Ellis holds both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Music Education from Georgia Southern University. As a conductor, teacher, and performer, he maintains an active musical career and has appeared as a guest conductor for ensembles such as the Georgia Southern University Wind Ensemble and Concert Bands, the OASIS Community Band in Statesboro, GA, and numerous middle and high school programs across the Southeast.

Deeply connected to the marching arts, Mr. Ellis has served on the teaching faculty of the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps, the Milton High School Marching Band, and the Atlanta Quest Independent World Indoor Percussion Ensemble. He has also designed and written marching productions for a wide range of programs, including the Georgia Southern University Southern Pride Marching Band, Tattnall County High School, Pebblebrook High School, Southeast Bulloch High School, Sprayberry High School, and Atlanta Quest Indoor Percussion Ensemble.

A former Drum Major throughout high school and college, Mr. Ellis frequently serves as a clinician and adjudicator for drum major camps and marching competitions across the Southeast. He teaches at several leadership camps each summer and serves as Caption Head for the prestigious Spirit Camp, directed by Freddy and Lynda Martin. He is an active adjudicator in the areas of music, visual, and effect.

His performance credits include the Georgia Southern University Wind Ensemble, the Oasis Community Band, the Cobb Wind Symphony, and concert tours throughout the United States, Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, England, and Italy. His professional affiliations include the Percussive Arts Society, the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), and the Georgia Music Educators Association.

Mr. Ellis and his wife Elizabeth are parents to their wonderful daughter Elouise and reside in Atlanta, Georgia.

 

 

Bradley Rikard - Associate Director

Mr. Rikard is the Associate Director of Bands at Sprayberry High School in Marietta, Georgia. Prior to his current position, he served as the Associate Band Director at Barber Middle School in Acworth, GA, where he taught from 2015 to 2024. During his tenure at Barber, his ensembles performed at numerous regional and national events, including MidFest at the University of Georgia, the Southeastern Regional Concert Band Festival, the University of Alabama Middle School Honor Band (Featured Ensemble), and the National Concert Band Festival in Indianapolis.

An active clinician and educator, Mr. Rikard has presented sessions on music technology for the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) In-Service Conference and the Cobb County Music Faculty. He has also served as a guest lecturer at Kennesaw State University and Georgia Southern University. In addition, he is the ensemble conductor for Georgia Southern’s Coastal Saxophone Day and has been a Visual/Music Instructor for the Kennesaw State University “Marching Owls” since their inaugural season in 2015.

As a performer, Mr. Rikard was a saxophonist with Tara Winds from 2012 to 2018, performing at major events such as GMEA, JanFest, and the 2015 Midwest Clinic. Proficient in both classical and jazz idioms, he has performed with renowned musicians including Eugene Rousseau, Otis Murphy, The Zagreb Quartet, The New Century Quartet, Tom “Bones” Malone, Mark Camphouse, Steve Bryant, Harry Watters, Sam Hazo, Jamey Aebersold, and Colonel John Bourgeois.

Mr. Rikard holds an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in Instructional Technology from the University of West Georgia, a Master’s in Music Education from Florida State University, and Bachelor’s degrees in Music Education and Performance from Georgia Southern University.

He and his wife, Megan, live in Acworth with their daughter, Riley, son, Grayson, and two dogs, Pepper Potts and Maestro Leopold.
