Band Camps 2019

Band Camps are one of the most memorable activities for any high school band student. Located below is our 2019 Band Camp information. We will have a series of camps before school starts to get ready for the coming season. Band Camp attendance is critical to the success of the Band of Gold. Any student participating in marching band is required to attend. Camp activities include: Learning marching and playing basics, learning field show music, learning field show drill and choreography, meeting new friends and having tons of fun!

All students planning to do marching band must complete the registration process with a parent.

Head Start Camp 

May 13th, 14th, 16th

5:30-8pm

Head Start Camp is for any student planning to join the Band of Gold. This is the first official activity for the Band of Gold entering the new season. All students must plan to attend this camp. For new and prospective members, this camp is a great way to participate in all of the marching band activities so you can make an informed decision about joining the band. The final decision will need to be made by the final registration at the end of camp.

Location: Sprayberry Band Room

What to Bring: 

  • Wear comfortable athletic clothing and athletic footwear for outside activities

  • Instruments:

    • Flutes, Clarinets, Saxophones, Trumpets, should plan to bring their instruments

    • All other students will transfer to marching instruments that are provided by SHS.

  • Bring a water bottle and make sure you eat a snack before arrival.

There will be marching registration on May 16th for any student not registered for marching band

Summer Band Camp 

Summer band camp is our biggest band camp of the year. All students are expected to attend. The students will start learning the Fall marching production and will begin shaping up the 2019 Band of Gold. Review the dates and times below. There will be a new layered band camp format this Summer.

Monday-July 15th: 9:00am-5:00pm

Tuesday-July 16th: 9:00am-5:00pm

Wednesday-July 17th: 8:00am-8:30pm

Thursday-July 18th: 8:00am-8:30pm

Friday-July 19th: 8:00am-8:30pm

Monday-July 22nd: 8:00am-8:30pm

Tuesday-July 23rd: 8:00am-8:30pm

What to Bring: 

  • Wear comfortable athletic clothing and athletic footwear for outside activities.

  • Keep in mind we will be outside for long stretches of time, remember sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, etc...

  • Instruments:

    • Flutes, Clarinets, Saxophones, Trumpets, should plan to bring their instruments

    • All other students will transfer to marching instruments that are provided by SHS.

  • Bring a water bottle and make sure you eat breakfast. There will be fruit snacks during breaks but a good breakfast is vital.

  • All Students should bring a packed lunch for the lunch portion of the day.

  • All students will be served dinner by SBBA each day between 4:30-6:00pm (Except for July 15th/July 16th)

2019 DRESS UP/THEME DAYS

Each band camp day will feature a theme. These are fun themes and will give the students a opportunity to dress up, play games and have a ton of fun! All attire should be appropriate and not interfere with your ability to march, play or move during camp.

Wednesday, July 17th: Diversity/International Day

"Let's travel around the globe, as we explore the diversity within the band"

Thursday, July 18th: Character Day

"Choose your favorite book or tv character to imitate"

Friday, July 19th: Hawaii Day

"Share some Aloha's with your band-mates" 

Monday, July 22nd: Country/Western Day

"Saddle up and scoot along to the band's western shindig"

"Represent your class spirit with your chosen color"

Post Band Camp 

July 25th, 29th, & 30TH

5:00pm-8:30pm

Post Band Camp is our opportunity to take a breath, digest band camp and have a few more rehearsals before school begins. Once the school year starts we will be on our weekly rehearsal schedule. The post camp rehearsals are in the evening which gives the students time to rest during the day. 

What to Bring: 

  • Wear comfortable athletic clothing and athletic footwear for outside activities.

  • Keep in mind we will be outside for long stretches of time, remember sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, etc...

  • Marching Band Instrument/Equipment

  • Bring a water bottle and snack if needed.
