Sprayberry Marching Band Rehearsals
Helpful Information
Important:
Any Sprayberry Band activity is considered a CCSD school event. All CCSD student policies in terms of rules, regulations and conduct should be followed. Any infringement of these rules will result in disciplinary action and dismissal from the program.
Attendance at all band activities is required and expected. If a student must miss rehearsal, directors must be notified at directors@sprayberryband.com.
Dress Code:
Competitive marching band is an athletic activity. Students should plan to wear comfortable athletic clothing to band camp and marching band rehearsals. Recommendations:
Light Athletic Shorts (No denim pants)
Moisture-wicking top or light t-shirt
Hat & Sunglasses
Footwear is very important and can directly affect the students ability to march with appropriate technique. Students are asked to wear a comfortable athletic shoe. No Converse, Vans and other fashion sneakers or boots. If a student has inappropriate footwear, they will be asked to not participate in marching activities for safety and performance issues.
Color guard students will receive specific instructions from the guard director.
FAQ’s:
What about extreme heat?
Directors and chaperones will follow the CCSD guidelines regarding heat. Heat is monitored by a heat stress monitor (Wet Bulb.) We will not place students outside in extreme heat. The rehearsal schedule is designed to avoid placing students outside during the hottest parts of the day.
What if it rains?
We monitor weather every hour during band activities. If it rains, we will adjust the rehearsal plan and move inside. In the event of severe weather, we will follow CCSD guidelines. Please actively monitor Booster Hub for any changes to rehearsals.
What can we do to prepare?
Hydrate. Please encourage your student to drink plenty of water before and after all marching band activities. In addition, any uptick in physical activity will help the student navigate the physical demands of marching band.
